Working with Papua New Guinea to support prosperity in our region

ICTE-UQ's International Development team, in collaboration with the UQ School of Political Science and International Studies, has been delivering a customised Graduate Certificate in International Relations program to 27 public servants from Papua New Guinea (PNG) with responsibilities for the PNG Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC). The program is focused on facilitating discussions, building technical knowledge and engaging with Australian counterparts.

As part of the second component of the program, the group, together with members from a sister Graduate Certificate in International Trade delivered by the University of Adelaide, travelled to Canberra for a week of meetings with Australian DFAT counterparts, including attending key meetings and a simulated APEC meeting.

Australia’s Ambassador to APEC, Simon Newnham, published a blog on the activities.
