Thai student awarded an English Language Scholarship in Australia

Thirathada Chinchapo (Marc), a physical therapy student at Chiang Mai University in Thailand, has been awarded an English language scholarship to study abroad in Australia.

The scholarship is sponsored by The University of Queensland’s Institute Continuing & TESOL Education (ICTE), in partnership with Thaiwahclub.com and Beyond Study Center in Thailand.

Thai students were invited to submit a short video interview for the opportunity to receive a 5-week English language course at ICTE, homestay accommodation, plus return flights from Bangkok – Brisbane provided by Thai AirAsia X.

The scholarship attracted high-quality entries from all over Thailand, and the videos were as diverse and creative as the students. Marc produced a rap-style video in front of a temple, with others taking viewers on a tour to some of Brisbane’s most iconic landmarks.

Renee Winton, Manager, Business Development said ICTE is pleased to offer the scholarship program to Thai students, as it provides a unique social and cultural experience.

“Scholarship recipients have the opportunity to gain a genuine cultural experience by living with a local family and studying in another country – giving them more opportunities to learn and practice their English outside the classroom,” she said.

“I’m very excited,” Marc said. “A scholarship is the best award I could receive, and learning English in Australia will open new opportunities for me. I couldn’t be happier.”
