Bridging English Tips

If you meet all the academic requirements for entry to The University of Queensland (UQ), but need some help to achieve the English language entry requirements, you can apply for an English language pathway at UQ’s Institute of Continuing & TESOL Education (ICTE).

Bridging English (BE) provides you with the opportunity to reach your English language goals, develop your proficiency in all four skills (reading, writing, listening and speaking), as well as systematically building your range of vocabulary and control of grammar.

Students below share their tips for the BE program and how you can make the most out of your time at ICTE.

The number one tip is to try your best!

To succeed in learning and pronunciation try to speak English with locals as much as possible. Also, try and read English books and watch English TV and movies. This will really help you learn and develop your language skills.

Get involved in all the activities and workshops ICTE offers. These activities are designed to help you enjoy your stay in Brisbane and help you make friends. Read more about learning support workshops and activities.
