About ESP: TESOL

English for Specific Purposes: TESOL (ESP: TESOL) is designed for students who are considering becoming a teacher of English as a second language (ESL) or who are already ESL teachers in their own country.

ESP: TESOL focuses on developing English language skills through topics of general interest and TESOL-related content.

ESP: TESOL is only available as a customised group program and can be coordinated to meet program partner requirements. Group programs generally require a minimum of 14 participants, to a maximum of 18 per class.

It is offered as a 5 or 10-week course, and tuition involves 20 hours of face-to-face classes each week.

Teaching Knowledge Test preparation

ESP: TESOL also provides preparation for the Cambridge English Teaching Knowledge Test (TKT).

  • ESP TESOL A (5 weeks) focuses extensively on themes relevant to Cambridge TKT Module 2 (Lesson Planning and use of Resources for Language Teaching) with a brief focus on the Cambridge TKT Module 1 (Language Background). Participants will undertake the Cambridge TKT Module 2 test only.

  • ESP TESOL B (5 weeks) focuses extensively on themes relevant to Cambridge TKT Module 3 (Managing the Teaching and Learning process). Participants will undertake the Cambridge TKT Module 3 test only

The TKT is not a teaching qualification but an assessment tool that aims to increase the knowledge and confidence of students and enhance future job and training prospects.
