John has been a TESOL language teacher for over 30 years and during his career has taught English in different parts of the world for both private and government organisations. He has gained extensive English language teaching experience working in Europe, The Middle East, South-East Asia and Australia.

On moving to Australia from England, John first joined the English teaching program at UQ in 1992 and at this time was involved in teaching General English, English for Academic Purposes and English Language Teaching Methodology. Later he went to work for the Ministry of Education in Brunei where he taught both General English and Medical English ESP courses. On his return to Australia, John came back to UQ, joining ICTE-UQ in 2008.

At ICTE-UQ, John has been responsible for delivering a range of English Language courses including: General English, EAP, ESP and Teacher Training.

John has a special interest in Teacher Education and Professional Development, and periodically delivers papers on these topics.
