John has been involved in TESOL education for over 30 years. Beginning his teaching career in secondary schools in the UK, he moved into TESOL working for both private and government organizations: He has held teaching positions in the following countries around the globe: UK, Sweden, Indonesia, Saudi Arabia, Oman, UAE, Brunei and Australia.

John has enjoyed a long association with UQ-ICTE, initially joining the institute in 1991 before taking up a senior teacher position with the Ministry of Education in Brunei. He returned to work at ICTE in 2008, and since that time has enjoyed teaching a range of courses in the following areas: General English, EAP and Teacher Training. He has also been responsible for delivering Teacher Training and CLIL programs as secondment courses on behalf of ICTE in China, Vietnam and Japan.

John maintains a strong passion for teaching EAP, Task-based Learning and Teacher Education. He also has a special interest in Action Research to facilitate language learning and to teach valuable life skills.
