Chai is proud to have been working in the international education sector for 10 years, first starting at Education Queensland International (EQI). During his three years at EQI, his focus was on marketing activities to promote the Queensland school sector to students interested in an overseas primary or high school study experience. He was responsible for the markets of South-East Asia, which also allowed him the opportunity to travel to market to meet with students, key agents and participate in recruitment fairs and seminars.

In 2012, he then took up the position of Regional Manager at ICTE and for six years was responsible for managing the Institute’s relationships in the key markets of Republic of Korea, Hong Kong SAR, Macau SAR and Thailand. More recently, he has taken over responsibility for the key markets of Indonesia, Vietnam and Latin America working closely with UQ’s offshore representatives to promote English language courses to future students while also designing customised short course training programs for overseas university partners, government organisations and corporations.

In 2018-2019, Chai also had the opportunity to broaden his skills and knowledge via a secondment with UQ’s International Development team. He was responsible for managing the Indonesia and South-East Asia portfolio on delivering a number of Australia Awards short course award projects and longer-term consultancy projects. He also managed broader engagement with UQ faculties and schools to source subject matter experts for high quality course inputs.
