Korean students gathered around a whiteboard Since 2008 ICTE-UQ has been delivering customised English for Specific Purposes (ESP) programs for science, mathematics and physics students from Kyung Hee University, Korea.

The four-week summer and winter vacation programs enable the undergraduate students to enhance their skills and confidence to study and communicate academic subject matter in English and to broaden their global experience and perspectives. Lessons include a combination of intensive ESP classes, guest lectures and laboratory work.

Program partners at UQ have included the School of Agriculture and Food Sciences and the School of Mathematics and Physics. ICTE-UQ has also worked with partners within UQ and around the world to deliver English for Specific Purposes programs in areas including Health Sciences, Banking, Finance and Law, Tourism and Hospitality, Government Diplomacy and Policy, Agriculture and Farming, Engineering and Mining (occupational health and safety and corporate and community relations), Education Management, and Translation and Interpreting.
