Supporting young and early career researchers, Chile
In 2012, 2013 and 2014 ICTE-UQ partnered with the Chilean Ministry of Education’s Comisión Nacional de Investigación Científica y Tecnológica (CONICYT) to create opportunities for high-performing undergraduate students to explore PhD studies and professional research careers.
The eight-week programs combined English language and research skills development with practical, hands-on research experience.
Students completed intensive English for Academic and Research Communication (EARC) classes, practical research skills training workshops, and were partnered with UQ academic mentors to learn more about the University’s engineering research projects.
The students also completed a mini-research project of their own and participated in a series of workshops to learn how UQ has successfully commercialised its research activities to deliver real benefits to industry and communities.
The program was a joint endeavour between ICTE-UQ and UQ’s Graduate School, Facultyof Engineering, Architecture and Information
Technology, UQ Business School, and research commercialisation entity UniQuest Pty Ltd.
