The English for Academic Purposes (EAP) course is the best way to prepare for an academic IELTS test and gain practical academic skills and language.
What you will learn:
- express facts, ideas and opinions in writing, using correct and appropriate vocabulary, grammatical structures and other features of academic writing
- apply a range of reading skills in order to understand and respond to a variety of written texts
- speak clearly and confidently
- understand spoken English in conversations, discussions, lectures and to take notes
- use a range of study skills including research skills, in order to gather, combine and critically examine information and ideas from different sources
- apply the skills and language studied to the IELTS test.
Course modules

• Practice reading and listening to IELTS style material
• Increase your reading speed and comprehension
• Communicate clearly and effectively in conversations and presentations

Class structure:
- 20 contact hours per week
- Access to additional online and self-directed learning resources
- You may be placed in a morning or afternoon session based on your course and class level.

Entry requirements
English for Academic Purposes is offered at three entry points - IELTS 5.0, 5.5 or 6.0 (or recognised equivalent).

Laptop
We recommend that you bring your own laptop.
Testing
Your teachers will provide informal feedback throughout the course. Formal tests on speaking, writing, reading and listening are held at the end of every 5-week session. Read more about assessment and certification.
