New English language test centre opens at UQ-ICTE

The University of Queensland's Institute of Continuing and TESOL Education (UQ-ICTE) has opened a new English language test centre. The Pearson PTE Academic computer based test centre allows participants to demonstrate language skills for university, professional and migration applications.

UQ-ICTE also hosts two other test centres, International English Language Testing System (IELTS) and Occupational English Test (OET). The main difference with PTE Academic is that it is a computer based system and therefore students will receive their test results faster, typically within five business days. Participants are given tests based on the real-life English skills using academically relevant tasks and measuring skills in an integrated way. Once participants have taken the test, they can send their scores to as many institutions as they like without an additional fee.

PTE Academic’s computer-based marking ensures all test takers are scored impartially and accurately. To ensure test score validity all test centres use state-of-the-art digital biometrics incorporating palm-scanning, digital signatures, secure paperless results, randomised test formats and CCTV.

UQ is the only university in Brisbane to host a PTE Academic computer based test centre.

The PTE Academic test centre is located on Level 2 of the Sir Llew Edwards building and is operating on a daily basis. Participants need to book their test online at www.pearsonpte.com.
