What is the UQ Exit IELTS Test Scheme?

The UQ Exit IELTS test is offered to provide UQ International students with formal certification of their English language ability on program completion and as a value-add to their UQ studies.

As well as completing all parts of the IELTS test, you will be asked to allow IELTS test partners to release the scores of your test to the University of Queensland for data analysis and reporting purposes. UQ will use these results to improve and monitor the English language proficiency standards of graduates so we can improve our English Language services from admission to graduation. Individual names will not be identified. The University will be interested in group patterns and trends over time. You will be required to upload a copy of either your UQ degree or Letter of Completion from the UQ Student Centre. Your degree completion status will be checked on Si-Net.

Who is Eligible?

UQ international students completing undergraduate/postgraduate/research higher degree programs (including study abroad/exchange) are eligible to apply for a UQ subsidised Academic IELTS test at the completion of their studies.

The test is not compulsory and does not influence UQ exam results or graduation eligibility.

Where can I take the test?

The UQ Exit IELTS test is only available through the IELTS Test Centre, Institute of Continuing and TESOL Education (ICTE-UQ).  You can choose from either of our testing venues, on campus at UQ or our Spring Hill venue.

  • If you complete your studies in Semester 1 apply between 1 April and 30 September.
  • If you complete your studies in Semester 2 apply between 1 October and 31 March.

Cost of the test

50% of the published test fee will be funded by UQ.  The remaining 50% is to be paid by the student.

How many tests can I take?

Students are eligible for one UQ subsidised IELTS test only over the entire course of their UQ study program.

The total number of UQ funded test places available each year is limited.  If claiming a refund for a prior test, you must claim within three months of your program completion.
